Dreams
Hi there, welcome to the corridors of my mind.
I sit here at my work desk very tired. Is it because I have been getting home from work at 8PM every day? Is it because I went to the gym last night and overdid it? Is it because of stress?
No!
No!!
No!!!
It is because of a dream that I had last night. But we will come back to that in a minute.

“Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?” Morpheus
I remember when I was younger I wet the bed a few times. It was weird. I would be in the middle of a dream then all of a sudden I would experience a scene change.
What is a scene change you may ask? I am not sure what the average person dreams of. I personally don’t dream about fairies, unicorns, princesses and rainbows. I normally just dream about everyday life stuff. Chilling with my chick. Going clubbing with Tokyo Grindhouse CEO and Cincere etc
A scene change is when your dream changes from clubbing in Tokyo with your friends, to being in secondary school again…
Ok, so when I was a kid I would scene change and end up in a bathroom or a bush and I would start taking a pee. I would actually experience the relief that you feel when you finally take a pee after holding it for so long. I would then open my eyes and realize that I had actually taken a pee not only in my dream but in real life lol.
There are probably numerous other examples. Like suddenly feeling cold in your dream then waking up to find out that your window is open and your room is freezing. Or when you first start puberty and have a X rated dream and wake up only to find out that you…. lol
So lets return to the dream I had last night. I was dreaming then I had a scene change. I was trapped in a burning room somewhere. It was getting hotter and hotter until it got to the point that I was actually burning up in real life. Then bang I opened my eyes, threw my bed cover off and started sprinting towards the front door of my house.
After leaving my room I realized that my house wasn’t on fire and stopped dead in my tracks.. I was in a semi-subconscious state. I wasn’t sleep walking or anything, with the dream and the temperature rise I actually thought that the house was on fire. I guess it was a hardwired reaction. Like when you go to a club and hear gunshots and just run for the exit without even thinking.
It seems like when dreaming the body sends signals to the mind. If your body is feeling some sort of extreme sensation it might make your mind portray it in your dream. The opposite is also true in that the mind might send signals to your body based on something extreme you experience in a dream.
Luckily last night was the mind playing tricks on the body and sending signals based on a dream…
Anybody have any weird experiences where they experience some sort of link between their body and mind while they dream?
Another cool topic is death in dreams. People say when you die in your dream you die in real life.
I don’t think I have died in a dream yet. There is one time where I wasn’t sure if I did die or not. I find that a split second before dying I either wake up or scene change.
Based on my recent dreams I have nearly died by getting shot, stabbed, falling off a cliff, falling of a building, and falling out of the sky. Anybody ever died in their dream and lived to tell the tale?

How many people remember what they dream about? It sucks when you have an awesome dream and forget about it. Anybody write them down?
Anybody have a dream that came true? I think I’ve had a few dreams that I lived out. But I think it’s based on the numbers game seeing that I dreams about things that I do on a daily basis…
What do you dream about?

Hmm, can’t really say I ever died in a dream… when I was around 9 or ten, for years, had this dream/nightmare w/e you want to classify it as where I fell into a volcano from 40-50 meters in the air, then right before I fall it in, I spawn in the same place where I started falling from, and over and over and over. Wasn’t really bothered by it, certainly wasn’t running around my room thinking it was on fire,,, but still interesting :p

@Michael Flux
Lol you make you dream sound like super mario brothers hehe :P. So you never died huh, Interesting. So the only time you can remember near death in a dream is 10+ years ago? Doesnt happen anymore?

I don’t think I ever dreamt about dying but I dreamt about other people dying quite a lot, not to mention dreaming of meeting with dead relatives. But then, here it is believed that when you dream about someone else’s death, that means that someone is supposed to have a long life. A good omen. For dead relatives, well maybe they like to make a visit since I practically shun almost all my relatives and haven’t been in touch with them all that much.
I do have recurring dreams of running away from something/being chased.
I know if I dream about holidaying in Japan, it is bound to be true. Wonder why, eh? LOL

@lina
That is interesting. I wonder if dying, coming close to dying and never dying have some sort of connection with a person’s mind/situation/outlook/attitude etc.
I don’t think another person has died in my dreams before. Maybe just disappeared or something.
“it is believed that when you dream about someone else’s death, that means that someone is supposed to have a long life”
Also, I wonder if you would still dream about a lot of people dying if you didnt know about the above quote? Interesting huh hehe.

I don’t dream often, but usually they’re pretty vivid when I do. Haven’t anything that I can think of recently though.
You ever thought of keeping a dream journal, and keeping track to see if you have any recurring themes?
May 15th, 2009 at 12:37 pm
@Lyndon
That is an interesting idea. Only problem is that I am way too lazy to do it lol. Also the window of oppotunity to write it down before you forget it is really small.
Meh, ill give it a try though.
I think you might either not sleep enough or just forget you dreams. Or maybe it is possible to just not dream lol. Im gonna google and see if there are any books on this subject…

I think dreams are usually very significant. I think that they have a direct correlation to the conscious state also… Things that go on in your day to day life are like the standard conventions or structure of the dream: the things that make it seem close to ‘normal’ conscious life… However, I think that the strange twists or occurrences within a dream are closer linked to something much deeper, spiritual or mentally in your life. It’s nice to share your dreams with others, but sometimes you loose part of the dream’s true meaning and understanding, as most of the real answers behind your dreams are within yourself.

@Tokyo Grindhouse CEO
Pretty interesting, its a cool idea that the answers are within you. I guess the main problem is learning how to find the answers that you hold.
The standard structure of a dream idea is also interesting. Since I have never spoke to anybody about this topic I wasnt really sure if most people dream about normal life stuff or just some wild fantasy stuff.
Do you know anything about using your dreams to find out more about yourself?

I need to take you to this really good English book store in IKB. I took Cin there and he started doing cartwheels!

I heard that if you dream death, it means something totally new is about to come in your life. But you dream so vivdly how you are killed in various ways, I think maybe you have some deep insecurity. Are you happy with your life the way it is now? Is your relationship good? Do you miss your family in the UK? Maybe there’s something. Look into it.
May 15th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
@Tokyo Grindhouse CEO
Take me plzzz!!
@Nino
Insecurities huh.
>Are you happy with your life the way it is now?
No Ferrari…
>Is your relationship good?
Yes
>Do you miss your family in the UK?
Yes
I guess I should look into it lol…

Can’t say I’ve ever died in a dream, but there have been times where I wanted to die in one. Like that time I dreamed about getting down with Fran Drescher.
*shudder*
May 16th, 2009 at 12:19 am
That last picture is from Vanilla Sky, right? Great movie.
May 16th, 2009 at 5:15 am
@Badass Geek
Maybe on some subconcious level you have a thing for her? hehe
lol thats just freaky
@Tornadoes28
I think that it might be. That movie is great. But it seems like it is a love or hate movie. It gets really mixed reviews for some reason…

He he you really better stop drinking as you are having some wild dreams there! I usually dont dream too much unless I have eaten or drunk too much or there is something worrying me. How boring am I. I had this one dream that followed me for years. It was about my sister drowing. It was so vivid but she is still alive years later so I am not sure what that was about. Maybe you are eating too late after working so late or not winding down enough. I was in bushfires and hey fire is not a good way to go…dream about something nicer like winning a million bucks maybe, lol
May 17th, 2009 at 5:02 am
@Lilly
Hehe the funny thing is that I don’t really drink. The unwinding part is something to take into consideration maybe. I find that I just abruptly get up and go to sleep.
Ill try to dream about nicer things

I did have a dream once where I died. It was the most random dream ever and believe me, this dream is not related to my personality type or current thoughts about things…it may have been due to the many action movies I may have watched then. But this was a couple of years ago and essentially in my dream I went crazy and started gunning down people (no one I knew just random characters my mind made up) through corn fields in some distant farm lands… then I ended up in some sort of car chase where I was being chased by a police car. Then all I remember was that I got out of the car and made a run for it. I ended up in some barn and I remember seeing the cop/sheriff at the door and and then he shot me. In my dream I looked down and saw that I had been shot in my chest and I just remember things getting darker and that was the end. I woke up and was like WTF! crazy dream…never had anything that whack since then.
On a light note, I believe i once had one of those lucid dreams. There was a period of time where I had many dreams where I realized I could “wake up” from them somehow by moving. It’s weird to explain but essentially I realized I was dreaming and told myself to shake or something so that I would wake myself up. Anyway, one time I remember I was dreaming and realized it. I told myself I could do whatever I want because it’s a dream right? So I started to make myself float in mid air… geezus as I write this is sounds like I do intense drugs or something hahaha… That’s the only time I’ve ever had a lucid dream. The past couple of years i’m lucky if I remember most of my dreams and they aren’t nearly as interesting.
May 17th, 2009 at 7:09 pm
I’ve had dreams like the one you had as well. The closest I’ve come to dying though is when I have a dream in which I fall, then wake up when I hit the ground. What a rush.
May 17th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
Very interesting my friend.
Here is comes; my amateur interpretation;
To dream that you are actually on fire indicates that your temper is getting out of control. Some issue or situation is burning you up from the inside out. There is a real need for you to undergo a transformation but you are fighting or are not ready for the change. It is as though something old is passing and something new is entering your life and you are being cleansed by the fire. Your thoughts and views of the world are changing. But because the fire is out of control then it is a metaphor of your struggle for transformation. It is also a warning to you of dangerous or risky activities. Don’t play with fire. Look inward and see what it is you know needs to be put out and what needs to be brought to fruition.
That will be a 5 cents. Thank you. xoxo

@Bob
Hi Bob. Thanks for pass by. Also thanks for the detailed account of your dream. Yeah action movies can fuel some wild dreams lol. I can’t tell you how many times I dreamed I was neo doing some mad kung fu matrix shit lol.
Deciding to make yourself float is cool. I would have made myself fly
@sixmats
Yeah it can be a real rush when you wake up just in the nick of time before you die hehe. Makes me wanna go sky diving to try and recreate that rush…
@Renee Khan
I like the interpretation. Without going into the itty bitty detail I think a few of the points you wrote are actually true to a certain extent.
Thank you for your services
Do you accept paypal?

Dear god, Man! I got halfway through this post thinking you were going to reveal to the world online that you’ve started wetting the bed again. Relieved that’s not the case.
First time I left Japan to go back home for awhile, I started to feel if my time spent living in Japan up to that point had been just a dream. Such a different world, you know? That might be one of the reasons I came back; just to see if it was really a dream or for real
May 18th, 2009 at 11:27 pm
I dream frequently – they’re fascinating and often contain a (small) dose of reality. If I’m thirsty in a dream, there’s never any liquid in the glass – ‘cause it’s a dream…
If I dream about someone who has died, they are only visiting, can never stay…
Nightmares? Not too keen on those.
(thanks for the visit!)
May 19th, 2009 at 12:36 am
yeah no dying in my dreams either….but I have had a few where I am falling to my death and wake up before impact…yuck
May 19th, 2009 at 1:23 am
I’ve had a dream where I was dead and people were gathered to mourn my sorry soul. No clue how I died. It wasn’t part of the dream. I think it was more about the people I couldn’t stand in real life fake crying over me. I got a kick out of it really.
Other than that, I dream of my teeth falling out all the time. Thanks for stopping by. I love your blog, man!
May 19th, 2009 at 1:37 am
I’ve had separate dreams where certain members of my family died. Sigh.
I’m a pretty good lucid dreamer though… hahaha.
May 19th, 2009 at 2:47 am
I wet my bed last time when I was small and again during my teenage years. And every time I wet my bed was due to peeing in my dreams! Good thing I don’t pee in bed anymore now although I sometimes still wet my bed - a different kind of wetting. Haha!
Nowadays I don’t dream much. But when I do dream, it would be sort of heavy dreams with sequels, if you know what I mean. I would wake up from a dream, go to the washroom and get back to sleep and start dreaming again, but the story is a continuation from the first dream. Then I will wake up again and go back to sleep only to dream part 3. And it can go on with part 4 and 5 unless I wake up and stop going back to sleep!
Sometimes in my dreams, I know I am dreaming. I think they call this lucid dreaming? But I still find it hard to control what I want to do in my dream. Maybe I need to practise more? Haha!
Btw, thanks for dropping by my blog! Your blog looks very interesting! Will come back to check out more : )
May 19th, 2009 at 5:54 am
I’ve had dreams about someone in my family dying and I freak out all day until I can call them. So far no one has died in real life when I’ve dreamed that way.
I also dream about my husband cheating on me, and then I wake up and punch him in the face and he’s all “what the hell?” and I’m all “Dream Cheater!!” and he’s all “snore”.
May 19th, 2009 at 9:28 am
@billywest
lol im in stitches! Hopefully everybody who read this actually read it properly. People with bad reading comprehension might have left here thinking I am an adult bed wetter lol
@Beth
Those dreams seem kind of sad. Needing something but not being able to have it
Thank you too
@ms bliss
Seems we have a lot of fallers around hehe. Do you know where you normally fall from?
@Lola
Hmm thats interesting. While I have never died I think I have had dreams about me not actually existing hehe. And you said your teeth keep falling out? Do you have teeth problem?
@nashe
?
Does being a good lucid dreamer mean you can control what you dream about? If so what do you make yourself dream about
@foongpc
LOL at different type of wetting. Are you implying what I think you are implying hehe. That sequel thing is awesome. Having a triology dream must be fun lol. But I guess it is due to you waking u a lot in your sleep. Do your dreams continue the next day or a few weeks after?
If you could control your dream what would u make it be about?
Thanks for dropping by
@Miss Yvonne
Good to hear that they were all safe
LOL at punching him in his face. Is Dream Cheating a breakupable offense?
May 19th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
Oh don’t ask! Lucid dreaming rocks. My lucid dreams usually involve me and a selection of hunky men.
teehee
May 20th, 2009 at 4:45 am
I don’t dream. At least I don’t remember any of them.
Oh hi, I’m delurking.
May 20th, 2009 at 11:42 am
@nashe
haha if you said hot women then I would ask for more details lol
@Dutch Donut Girl
Thank you for delurking, welcome aboard. I wish you nice dreams

You know, one affair I determined over the years is not to underestimate people’s capactity for stupidity. Yet, I do consider that’s changed slightly in past times thanks to the sharing of deep information like this.
