It’s been a long time..
“As I stand here contemplating
On the right thing to decide
Will I take the wrong direction
All my life, where will I go? What lies ahead of me?”
Like RnB? That there are lyrics from a very old song by a group called Xscape, “Who can I run to”
It was about 10 odd years ago, I was still in London and aged about 13 or 15. Back then if you were a dude, getting a chick to sing on your voicemail was the rage.
I knew this one chick who could sing really well and so I asked her to bless my voicemail with something nice.
She went away and sang those lyrics up there. To be completely honest I didn’t even know what song it was at the time lol. It was only about 3 years ago I was bored and decided to Google it to find out.
People would ring my phone and be like, “ZOMG who is that singing on your voicemail?!!”
And I would all be like, “Don’t worry, don’t worry.” while doing the, “I’M SO AWESOME” smile
Shieeeett. Good times, good times!
So anyway, thanks for the array of comments I received on the last post. I wasn’t able to reply to anyone really, but I’m grateful for the insight.
So where have I been? I took a bit of a time out to try and figure out my next move.
For the past week and a half I decided to come in, work hard, not piss about, and see how I feel about the job. Hence the reason for no blogs, twitter or use of chat.
So, how do I feel about it? Well this week has showed me I probably need to jump ship eventually if not very soon.
The good news is that I taught myself a lot the past week from reading and doing programming tutorials. Bad news is that I probably cannot get away with doing that forever.
I tried to think of some interesting projects that I could take on but came up with nada. I guess one last thing I can try is asking the manager to find me something worthy do.
In the mean time I have shipped out the resume to a few places. Got a few bites and interview offers.
Biggest problem though is that most of the work I have done here isn’t exactly, “Resume worthy”. Mainly low level shit. I sent one resume out and dude rang me back straight away. He was like everything in your resume is good except details about your current job. That I need to put project details, achievements and stuff like that in it…
Em? LOL??
Probably just going to have to super exaggerate the shitty small projects I did here, then lie through my teeth if I get an interview. So lame… -_- I have my resume open as I type this thinking about what to write….
Oh yeah just to clarify the whole sleeping at work thing. It is not like I went into work and was like, “Man, work is boring. Fuck it ima grab some sleep on my keyboard!”.
Basically I wake up like 4-5am every day. I go through periods where I will wake up at 1am and not be able to get back to sleep. So by the time I get to work at 9am I have already been up like 8 hours.
I go to lunch then 20mins or so after my eyes get blurry and then the blood disappears from my fingers and I start to feel numb. Then bang!
A few times I tried to put one hand on my face to hold my head up and type with the other hand. But my hand would eventually give way and smash into the desk making a pretty loud sound lol..
I should have probably gone outside for air or something, but when you are sitting looking at a computer screen it can hit so fast..
Anyway the reason I was able to write anything today is because of the Prison break re-run I saw on Saturday. It was the episode where Michael is in solitude and flips out and starts punching the wall saying, “I put my blood into this!”
Kinda made me think about my poor abandoned blog that I put my blood into only to let die
But don’t worry, because I be back yo
!!!

Prometheus I think you should talk to your boss and tell him that you would like to be more involved in moving the company forward; blah blah blah. In other words more interesting work.
Nothing ventured nothing gained.
You have to take the jump. Remember the book ‘The Alchemist’ he had to try things to move forward and it always worked out.
Glad your back.

A high noon showdown on the main road? What kind of revolver do you have? LOL.
I think Prison Break sucked! Especially the last season. The 1st is the best. Good enough to make you think about your blog
Anyway, you have a bunch of followers, we’re thirsty for your ramblings and rants
But your personal life comes first. Good luck with your future endavours!

I hate to give advice to peers, so take it with a huge grain of salt. But, one of the best routines I’ve come up with in my life so far is to make a solid yearly plan every year at some point with a loose 5-year plan based on it. Yeah, I know, this means that last year’s loose 5-year plan is likely to change considerably this year, but I rarely change the shape of my 1-year plans.
Now, you’re 24 or 25, but soon enough you’ll be 30, and then 35. Sure, 35 is still young (likely the prime of life for a lot of guys - I’ll let you know in a few years, lol), but it would be better to be 35 and successful (not necessarily with money; you define your own idea of success, right?) than to be still searching for a path to follow.
If you have some kind of dream now, try to connect it to the present reality by making some concrete plans. Don’t squander your youth away by enduring at some job you hate. Most people have it within them to do extraordinary things if they just ignore the naysayers and pragmatists.
By the way, this message is to myself as much as it is to anyone else

I don’t think you’ve ever heard my singing voice, haha! It would be funny at least!

Yah, applying for jobs you can’t actually do is pretty silly I guess unless you tell them you are willing to learn. And no pills
